BÉATRICE + PASCAL LAMBERT:
We’ve been enthralled with this wine as of late, a recent favorite from our tasting with Advanced Sommelier, Travis Tache, of Woodberry Wines. Considered one of the Loire Valley’s benchmark biodynamic estates, the Lambert family confidently occupy the space between old-school classic and new-school progressive. While their winemaking practices lean low-intervention, the resulting wines are expressive, taut, intellectual, and well... classic.
In one of Chinon’s most revered communes,
Cravant-les-Côteaux, expressive Cabernet Franc is farmed steep, limestone sites along the Vienne River. The pair farm estate grown fruit, crafting classic central Loire Valleys reds and whites from Cabernet Franc and Chenin Blanc. The Lambert estate was certified organic in 2000, shortly followed by Biodyvin certification several years later. Pur Jus just means what it is: pure juice. While Pascal and Béatrice produce multiple cuvées ranging from accessible and easy-drinking to cellar-worthy, Pur Jus stands as a necessary summer red; versatile, food-friendly, and deservant of the slightest chill to compliment Michigan’s August heat.
